
Marilyn A. Sweeney, 74, a resident of East River Road in Oswego, passed away Friday, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Marilyn was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Richard Mitchell, Sr. and the late Anamae (McGrath) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Oswego Catholic High School, and Sweet Briar College, where she earned a master’s degree in education. Prior to her retirement, she was employed, for over 30 years, as a teacher in several area schools.
She is survived by three daughters, Michele (Michael) Allen of Arkansas, Lynette Sweeney D’Elia of Mansville, NY, and Nicole Mitchell of Circleville, Ohio; a brother, Richard (Teresa) Mitchell, Jr. of Oswego; a sister, Pamela (Richard) Palmer of Oswego; three grandchildren, Cassandra Allen, Connor Allen, Katelynn Allen; two great-grandchildren, Jayden, and Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, in St. Paul’s Church.
Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
