Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Kubish) White and had attended Oswego schools.
She was employed with Nestle's for ten years and later operated John's Tavern for twenty years.
Mary was a member of the Scriba Senior Citizen's , St. Stephen's Church and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Modie, four sisters, Helen White, Sadie Michalski, Julia Lancto, Agnes Mullen and three brothers, William, Andy and Stanley White.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 from St. Stephen's Church.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St.Stephen's Church, 138 Niagara St., Oswego, N.Y. 13126.
