Mary Catherine Mooney, 88, a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, and a former resident of 92 Niagara Street in Oswego, NY, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at her home in Florida.
Mrs. Mooney was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Edward and Theresa (Gilsenan) Kelly. She moved to Oswego in 1971.
Mary was the wife of the late Terence Mooney, who died in 1988.
She was a past president of the Oswego Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary and a past regent of the Catholic Daughters of Bishop Cunningham.
Mrs. Mooney was a former communicant of St. John's Church in Oswego.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Ted Gerdes) Mooney of Los Angeles, CA: four sons, John (Susan) Mooney of Plymouth, WI, Kevin Mooney of North Port, FL, Robert (Nancy) Mooney of Bradenton, FL, and Philip (Judy) Mooney of Oswego; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, especially the very beloved Maureen Mullany White.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 19th, in St. Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Following the cemetery services, a reception will be held at the Oswego Ancient Order of Hibernians Club, 22 Munn Street in Oswego.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday the 18th of December, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
