Mary Shappee, 85, of Minetto, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2015.
Born in S.W. Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Katherine (Lagasse) Post. Mary retired from the Oswego City School District after 27 years at Minetto School. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting and volunteered with the Oswego Hospital Crafty Ladies and at the Minetto United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Lake City Victoria Chapter #205 Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two daughters, Carla (Steven) Salisbury of Minetto and Susan (Robert) Caruth of Syracuse; son, Jeffrey (Denise Lucas) Shappee of SC; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Salisbury, Derek Salisbury, Katie Caruth; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Carlton Shappee, Jr. in January of 2015; and by her brother, Larrie Post.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Monday, September 21, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, at Minetto United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery.
