The Oswego Players will open the classic, "Dial M for Murder," at 8 .m., Friday, Feb.8. Playing the part of the villain is a newcomer to the organization, Nathan Wescott.
Director Troy Pepper chose Wescott from open auditions of those reading passages from the script. His capturing the juicy part of the bad guy reemphasizes that you do not have to be a member to try out.
"The fact is, all new faces are welcome," a spokesperon said. "Once, one of our reviewers from the college said he would not be able to comment on the show for us because he had seen the lead in so many shows that he didn't feel he could be objective. I guess you would call that overexposure."
Wescott has performed previously in high school, most notably in "My Fair Lady," and as the lead actor of Lank in "Crazy for You." When not rehearsing, he is busy studying robotic engineering and works with Oswego Health.
The rest of the cast is filled out by Zane Leo, Elizabeth Ladd, Kyle Walton, Paul Michael Callahan and Julia Preston-Fulton.
Production dates are 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8, 9, 15 and 16, with a matinee at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and 7/students. Reservations are recommended and available by calling the Players' box office at 315-343-5138.
