Officials of the Town and Village of Mexico invite residents to take part in planning for the future of their area.
A community-wide public meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the auditorium of the Mexico High School, 3338 Main St., Mexico.
The two municipalities have joined forces to develop their first joint Comprehensive Plan with the goal of guiding their communities through various changes expected in Central New York over the coming years.
Samuel Gordon, planning leader for Environmental Design and Research (EDR), will speak about how development can create challenges and opportunities for communities. Gordon, who is currently working on the Oswego County Comprehensive Plan, brings a wealth of experience in urban design, environmental planning and community development to the table.
He will discuss how Micron and other proposed developments, such as the possibility of a new local nuclear power plant, can affect a community’s growth and how the town and village of Mexico might be able to take advantage of these opportunities in a way that improves the quality of life for residents in the heart of Oswego County.
