Michael E. Scullin, age 69, of Oswego, passed away on April 22, 2026, at Oswego Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Born in Oswego, Michael was the son of the late Dr. John Paul “Jack” Scullin and Geraldine Collins Scullin. He was a 1974 graduate of Oswego High School and went on to proudly serve his country as a medic in the United States Army following graduation.
Michael was employed at Huhtamaki for many years and worked in car sales prior to that. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures - fishing, hunting, reading books and the newspapers, and spending time betting on the horses at OTB with his brother and nephew. He was a boat house bum. He was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and his remarkable talent as a storyteller. His stories and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving children, Christine (Daniel) Smith and Eamon (Alyssa) Scullin, both of Oswego; his cherished grandchildren Deon Scullin, Andrea Gills, Grace Gills, Wyatt Smith, Azariah Scullin and Esther Scullin, all of Oswego; and his siblings Mary Ellen (Tom) Nawn, Paul Scullin and Sheilagh (Jeff) Torbitt all of Oswego, Caroline Scullin of Washington, DC, Leo (Susan) Scullin of New York, and his devoted sister and caretaker, Margaret Scullin of Syracuse.
Michael is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, five great nieces and great nephews, and the special neighborhood friends of Lawrence Street, who were like family to him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 nieces.
Michael’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for him throughout his illness.
He will be remembered for his humor, his resilience, and the deep love he had for his family.
