Write a commentMichael M. Cahill, 56, of Oswego, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Mike was born in Oswego, the son of Patricia (Coffey), and the late Martin Cahill.
Mike began his Novelis Oswego career in 2005. He enjoyed all aspects of the plant, and was always interested in learning, and being part of whatever was asked of him. He especially liked welcoming new Remelt employees and being part of the Vision Team. Over the years many co-workers became lifelong friends.
He was a graduate of Bishop Cunningham High School, where he was an excellent three-sport athlete. He was proudly a member of the school's 1985 New York State Championship Basketball Team.
An incredibly social person, he was the life of many parties. He had countless good friends at work and in the community, including his great friends in the "paint crew". Many of these friends he perfected an impersonation of and enjoyed entertaining us all with. He was an enthusiastic fan of many sports, including car racing and football. He loved golfing, and was an involved member of the Stone Creek Golf League. He was also a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Julie (Carpenter) Cahill of Oswego; his daughter, Sophia Cahill of Oswego; his mother, Patricia North of Oswego; two brothers, Richard Cahill and Patrick Cahill, both of Oswego; and his sister, Deborah (Michael) Anderson of Oswego.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Susan Cahill.
Calling hours will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego. A service will follow the calling hours at 6:00.
Burial will be private in Rural Cemetery.
