In yet another dominating performance, Mike Bond ran away with his third Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super win of the season behind the wheel of the Four Sevens No. 74 on Saturday night as a part of Oswego Speedway’s 65th Anniversary celebration presented by JP Jewelers and RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting.

Bond started the 30-lap main from the third position and quickly stole the top spot flying to victory over defending series champion Andrew Schartner, Jason Simmons, Dalton Doyle, and Jack Patrick.

Anthony Losurdo, Dave Cliff, rookie Tyler Shullick, Mike Bruce, and Camden Proud finished the top ten runners on Saturday night.

Simmons and Josh Kerr led the 25-car Small Block Super field to green, but it took little time at all for Bond to take advantage and slide to the top spot at the drop of the green.

Schartner eventually trailed Bond to the runner-up position with Simmons, Doyle and Patrick in tow.

As Bond and Schartner made distance on the field, Losurdo began to work his way through the pack, driving by Kerr at lap seven for sixth. Matt Magner, Cliff, and Shullick would also work by Kerr, dropping the No. 8 to 10th in the order.

Defending Mr. Small Block Supermodified, and the winner of the Supermodified/SBS Challenge at Oswego Kartway, Cliff managed to next work his way by Magner for seventh at lap 13. After claiming his first win of the season on August 1, Cliff is now attempting to chase down Doyle in the championship standings, who was running fourth at the time.

Schartner was giving all he had to try and catch Bond out front, but only a yellow flag at lap 26 would give him another opportunity at victory.

The Magner No. 87 would wind up facing the wrong direction in turn four to force the caution at lap 26 and when the field came back to green Bond led Schartner, Simmons, Doyle, Patrick, Losurdo, Cliff, Bruce, Shullick, and Proud.

Over the course of the final four laps, the front positions would stay the same, but it was Shullick again opening eyes in the No. 67. Shullick would dive under Bruce on the races final lap to take away the 8th position for his first career top ten finish in the SBS division, in only his second start.

Bond’s victory is the 32nd of his career at Oswego, which leads all drivers in the history of the division. Russ Brown is his closest competitor, with 21 main event wins.

Shell Shock Custom Helmet Paint Heat Race Challenge victories went to Bruce, Bond, and Doyle.

The D&S Landscaping Hard Charger was Jesse Bearup with Shullick collecting the Nice Price Auto Sales Up and Comer Award.

The White’s Car Care 4th Place finisher was Doyle.

Bond went away with the Sherwood Racing Wheels Lap Leader Award while Kerr took the Bacc-Off Hard Luck Award.
