Nancy Burtch, born April 8 1948 in Fulton, NY, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Oswego, NY.

She was surrounded by family, beloved friends and her loyal dog Freckles.

Nancy graduated from Oswego High School in 1966. She spent much of her career as an administrator at Niagara Mohawk, where her chief responsibility was recruiting for Papa Jay’s softball team. Nancy also worked with the United Way; eventually returning to Niagara Mohawk before retiring.

Nancy married Robert “Bob” Barker Burtch Jr. in their Albany Street home in May of 1981. When asked whether it was love at first sight, she simply replied, “Oh yeah.” They shared 42 wonderful years of marriage before Bob’s passing on October 15, 2023.

Nancy and Bob spent many joyful summers boating in the Thousand Islands, Sodus Bay, and Oswego Harbor. In retirement, they happily traded snow for sunshine, spending their winters in Myrtle Beach.

Nancy was a devoted soccer, lacrosse and hockey mom. She had many interests and talents, enjoying golf and bowling, and could even drink a beer while standing on her head. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, warm heart, and immense love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Robert Barker Burtch III (Emma Schlieder Burtch); her brother, Daniel (Nan) Weegar; daughter, Christopher “Penny” Pedersen (Darin Pritchett); grandson, Earl John Greene III; and granddaughter, Nicholas Ashley Greene.

She is predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Allison Weegar (née Gibson) and sister, Lynn Weegar Ralph.

The family would like to thank Lorraine and Mike Smith and Patty Wright. Their devotion to Nancy and Bob throughout their friendship, especially during Nancy’s time at St. Luke’s, will always be remembered with deep gratitude.

Please join us in celebrating Nancy’s life on August 23rd at GS Steamers restaurant in the Clarion Hotel, 70 East First St, Oswego, NY, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Arrangements are under the care of Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Oswego.
