Write a commentNancy I. McCaffrey 92, of 30 Harbor Brook Drive, Oswego died at the home of her great niece Debbie (Mike) Anderson on December 24th.
Ms. McCaffrey was born in Oswego where she resided most of her life. She attended the Covent School in Syracuse, was a graduate of Oswego High School and attended Nazareth College and studied to become a dietician. Nancy received her Masters Degree in teaching from Nazareth. Nancy was employed at Crouse Hospital and then became a teacher, later retiring from Gillette Road School in Syracuse.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Margaret (Dunn) McCaffrey as well as her sister M. Jane Cahill. Nancy was very close to her family and was also predeceased by her nephews William Cahill, Robert Cahill, Martin Cahill, nieces Ellen VanHorn, Nancy Bugow and Judy Leone, as well as her great nephew Shawn Cahill.
She is survived by her nephews Dean (Ann) Cahill, Timothy (Pat) Cahill and her niece Susan Haynes. Nancy is survived by many great nieces and nephews as well as several great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
During the summer Nancy enjoyed spending time with her friends at Rainbow Shores camp. She also loved all of her cocker spaniel dogs and leaves behind her beloved Sensational. She loved to do water color painting and won several awards for her efforts. She was a member of the Art Guild and taught senior osteoporosis aerobics at the YMCA, was a Reiki healer as well as an avid gardener.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
