Nancy T. Caldwell, 74, of Oswego, died December 7th, 2018 at the Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn (Shoemaker) Turner.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bucknell University and moved to Germany in 1969.

She married and then raised her family and taught school in Germany for 25 years.

She was employed by the Elsfleth City School District in lower Saxony, Germany. Nancy retired to the United States and filled her time with tutoring, giving piano lessons and playing the organ in various local churches, most recently with the Journey of Faith Congregation which gave her enormous joy. She was a proud third generation P.E.O. member and also a member of the D.A.R.

Nancy loved and supported her family without reservation and particularly adored her new grandchild Bodhi. She was a trusted friend, loved her music, and maintained a keen interest in current political events. With her immediate family not being local, the compassion and support she received from the members of the congregation she played the organ for, meant the world to her. She punctuated her conversations with a sharp wit and a joyful sense of humor. She was never shy about expressing her opinion on all matters large and small, but above all she had fun and wanted others around her to have fun as well.

Surviving are two sons: William A. (Debby) Caldwell of California, and Charles T. Caldwell of Germany, a brother, Charles (Marian) Turner of Rochester NY, and two nieces; Caroline (Mark) English of Virginia and Susan (Kevin)  Doherty of Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by William M. Caldwell.

Calling hours will be Thursday December 13th, 2018 from 3-6pm at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street. The Funeral will be Friday at 11am at the Journey of Faith Church, Route 104 West, Southwest Oswego.

Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Journey of Faith United Methodist Church and the P.E.O. Nancy T. Caldwell Scholarship Fund (315-343-7602).
