Local author, Linda Jeanne Germain, recently published a new children’s book about Oswego entitled “A Piggily Poo Christmas.”
The book, which Germain also illustrated, features her guinea pigs that go back in time to 1976 Oswego to find the Christmas spirit for their mama. The guinea pigs, Kirby, Toby, Maggie, and Mollie visit many traditional Christmas locales of Oswego that Germain recalls from her childhood.
“I have great memories of growing up in Oswego, especially at Christmas time,” Germain stated. “The Christmas traditions that Oswego enjoys today are wonderful, but there was something special about Christmas in Oswego during my youth. I wanted to write a story that celebrates those traditions and shares them with the Oswegonians of today. I hope my book sparks people’s memories of days gone by, but also helps the younger generations know how Oswego was ‘back in the day’.”
Several copies of the book have sold to date, but Germain has reserved 25 copies that will be available for sale at the Oswego County Youth Bureau’s/Kiwanis Craft Show on Sunday, Dec.3, 2017 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. at the Oswego YMCA Armory.
Germain is the author and illustrator of “Kirby’s Krazy Karrot Kaper” another children’s book about Oswego which was released in 2016. In 2007, Germain published her first book about Oswego called “A Common View: With Affection, Hope, and Humor, Reflections on the Port City of Central New York.”
