New York State has announced that $1 million is available for the 5th round of the New Farmers Grant Fund.
The grant is designed to help beginning farmers improve profitability by meeting one of the following goals:
• expanding agricultural production, diversifying agricultural production and/or extending the agricultural production season; or
• advancing innovative techniques that increase sustainable agricultural practices such as organic farming, food safety, reduction of farm waste and/or water use.
Grants may provide a minimum of $15,000 to a maximum to $50,000 for up to 50% of total project costs. The grant recipient must provide the remaining 50% through cash, lines of credit and/or loans only.
