The Oswego County Historical Society will host the next lecture of the 2015 season on Sunday, October 18 at 1:30 pm at the Richardson-Bates House Museum located at 135 E. Third St., Oswego. The event is free and open to the public.

Justin White, president of the board of trustees, will present a program entitled, “Grand Old Homes of Oswego: Gone and Forgotten."

A PowerPoint program will focus on the gilded age of Oswego, when impressive homes graced the city neighborhoods and made a distinct impression during the mid-19th and early 20th century."Many of the elaborate residences that were once evidence of Oswego prosperity are now long gone," said White. "Only stories, documents and rare pictures remain as evidence of those seemingly idyllic places."

The Oswego County Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich history of the county. The society maintains and operates the Richardson-Bates House Museum, a historic landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The museum is open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1-5 p.m, and other days by appointment. For more information call the museum during regular hours at 343-1342.
