Come to the Oswego Fire Department Headquarters (35 East Cayuga Street, Oswego) on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., for the free Community Safety Day, a hands-on safety event featuring Oswego Fire, Oswego Police Department, as well as other local law enforcement agencies.

Demonstrations will include fire extinguisher use, K9 unit, obstacle bike course, impaired driver tests, emergency medical and rescue procedures, crime prevention strategies and community resources information.  Burke's Home Improvement will donate safety products to raffle, as well as bike raffles courtesy of Oswego Speedway and Chris Nelson Insurance. Lowe's will have their Build and Grow Program set up as well as Barlow's Concessions providing free Sno-Cones!

“The Oswego Fire Department is proud to host this event, which looks to be bigger and better each year,” says Oswego Fire Department Lt. Paul Conzone, an organizer of the event, in a press release. “Our goal is to provide the community with safety tips through education, while having a little fun along the way. Each agency will be focusing on something different, whether it is how to properly fit a bike helmet, restrain a child in a car seat or to use a fire extinguisher. We are very excited to partner with so many other public safety and service agencies from the area.”

"The commitment of the Oswego Fire Department really made this event happen," says Oswego Traffic Safety Coordinator, Jessica McGiff in the press release. "Bring your bike for the Bike Rodeo, try out the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau Smoothie Bike, get a free bike helmet or take a look at the emergency vehicles. It's an event for the whole family."

Oswego County agencies with activities will include the Oswego Traffic Safety Board, Tobacco Free Network of CNY, STOP DWI, VOW Foundation, Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, Oswego Health, COCOAA, Oswego County Health Department, OCO, Harbor Lights, Farnham Family Services, Harbor Lights Chemical Dependency Services.
