Write a commentThe Oswego Fire Department was dispatched at 2:42 pm on March 18th to a possible structure fire at 134 Midland Street, on the east side of the city.
Fire officials stated that an occupant saw smoke coming from a bathroom and called 911. First arriving personnel reported a smoke condition in the upstairs apartment of the 2 family home and went to work searching for the source. Crews were able to locate a small fire in the front wall of the structure and extinguished it quickly. According to Assistant Chief Jon Chawgo, "The fire traveled vertically in the wall, so crews had to open up some void spaces to ensure it was completely extinguished". 7 people were displaced from the home, and the American Red Cross has been dispatched to ensure they are assisted with temporary housing.
Oswego Fire Department personnel were back in service after about an hour.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
