Oswego Football Coach Mike Conners noted his team had to keep turnovers at a minimum and keep the game close in the first half as the Bucs opened the season at Joe Wilber Field Friday night, Sept. 6.

However, just 11 seconds into the game Indian River had taken advantage of an Oswego turnover off the kick off and went up 7-0. Momentum continued on the side of the visitors as they rolled to a 27-0 halftime lead.

Oswego regrouped at halftime, but Indian River scored one more in the very early going before the Bucs finally got on the scoreboard.

After a roughing, the kicker penalty the Bucs got moving as Garrett Dunsmoor connected on a 16-yard pass to Alex Makin. Makin was a workhorse for the Bucs as he finished with 13 carries for nearly 120 yards. The running back kept the drive going for OHS as he ran for 23 yards and two plays later he handed off to Ryan Lavner on an inside reverse. Lavner went to the outside and scampered 23 yards for the touchdown, but it was not enough as the Bucs fell to Indian River, 47-7.
The Bucs return to action on the road Friday night, Sept. 13, at New Hartford for a 7 p.m. kick off.
