On 04/25/2024 at approximately 2343 hrs., officers from the Oswego Police Department were dispatched to 100 E. 10th St., for an assault complaint.

Upon arrival, Officers observed one victim, identified as Nathan C. Goodway, a 31yr old male from Oswego, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on the interviews and investigation, officers determined that there was a verbal argument between Goodway and another male, identified as Jaiwann D. Watson, age 21, of Syracuse. During the argument, it is alleged that Watson shot Goodway, then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Watson was located by officers from the Fulton Police Department in the City of Fulton after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit and was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, Jaiwann D. Watson, age 21, of Syracuse was charged with Murder in the 2nd degree, a class A-1 felony, Burglary in the 1st degree, a class B felony, Robbery in the 1st degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony.

Watson was processed on the above charges and held for evening Oswego County CAP Court arraignment on 04/26/2024.

The Oswego Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police, the Oswego Fire Department, Menter Ambulance, The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, the Fulton Police Department, District Attorney DiMartino and the Oswego County DA’s office.

Based on the interviews and investigation, officers determined that there was a verbal argument between two people. During the argument, the victim was shot. The suspect left the scene prior to police arrival.

The suspect was located by officers from the Fulton Police Department in the City of Fulton and is currently being held pending arraignment.

The Oswego Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police, the Oswego Fire Department, Menter Ambulance, The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, the Fulton Police Department, District Attorney DiMartino and the Oswego County DA’s office.
