Executive Director of the Oswego County Opportunities Diane Cooper-Currier (l) presents Zell Alvarez (c), owner of Oompa Loompyas Restaurant and Catering of Syracuse and her son Cristian Alvarez(r) with the award for best dish at OCO’s Giving Thanks Food and Beverage Pairing event.
Oompa Loompyas’ Bistek Puffy Tacos and Adobo Salt Potato Puffy Tacos, paired with Blake’s Triple Jam Cider, was the crowd’s favorite. “We are elated about the win,” said Alvarez. “We are so grateful for being invited back to OCO’s Giving Thanks year after year.”
Locavore at Burritt’s was runner-up with its assortment of Buffalo Chicken, Bruschetta, and Crab Puff Pastries, and La Parilla on the Water’s Vegan Chili rounded out the top three choices. Presented by G&C Foods, Giving Thanks served as a fundraiser to benefit OCO’s “Transforming Treasures. Transforming Lives.” initiative, which focuses on uncovering and showcasing the potential and value of all things and all people.
