As the Oswego Renaissance Association’s (ORA) Block Challenge Grants continue into the fall, the ORA announces the availability of “Neighborhood Pride Grants” beginning in September.
The first round of Pride Grants are due Oct. 1.
ORA offers several Neighborhood Pride Grants each year (between $100 and $3,000), and a small number of larger ones, to support projects and activities that sow the seeds of revitalization by engaging residents in the renaissance of their neighborhoods. The goal is to restore vibrancy to neighborhood streets, public spaces, parks, sidewalks, large buildings and more.
The Pride grants target both private and public space with physical improvements while engaging neighbors as the drivers of change.
Pride grants can vary from small to large project, and could include: Flowerboxes for multiple houses, planting more trees along the street, landscaping for multiple houses, picket fences along a stretch of houses, playground upgrades, park improvements, adding or recovering lost greenspace, flowerbeds and gardens along curbsides, or many other ideas.
In all cases, group of neighbors must apply together. Applications are competitive and funding is not guaranteed. Awards are based on availability of funds, neighborhood involvement, quality and scope of project, and geographic focus.
