Oswego AmeriCorps is proud to announce the successful completion of its 2025 summer program.
This year, 25 members served across six sites in Oswego County. They dedicated their time and talents to supporting local youth, strengthening community connections and promoting healthier futures.
“Members spend the summer helping their community while earning a paycheck and an education award,” said AmeriCorps Program Coordinator Kiara Richer. “For the 300-hour summer positions, they receive a total living wage of $4,661 and, upon successful completion of their contract, the member also receives an education award of $1,565.08 that can be used for tuition or student loans at qualified institutions.”
This year’s AmeriCorps members worked with Fulton Community Basketball, Camp Hollis, Camp Zerbe, Camp Foundations, Legends Field and Lacona Recreation.
In addition to daily service at their sites, members also coordinated the following community involvement projects:
- Camp Hollis members organized a card-making project for the elderly residents at St. Luke’s.
- Camp Zerbe members worked with campers to create cards for residents at The Gardens by Morningstar in Pulaski.
- Lacona Recreation members hosted a canned food drive to benefit the Lacona Food Pantry
- Legends Field members held a community kickball tournament where participants donated non-perishable food items for Human Concerns Food Pantry in Oswego.
These impactful projects not only provided valuable experiences for the youth AmeriCorps members served but also supported community organizations across the county.
Although the summer season has officially ended, four members continue to support their sites through the conclusion of the program’s fiscal year on October 31.
Recruitment for the 2026 AmeriCorps program will begin November 1, as Oswego AmeriCorps looks forward to welcoming new members and partners for another successful year of service.
