Connecting Communities one book at a time

The Oswego Bookmobile is heading into the fourth week of Driving Books Home in Oswego, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico, and Pulaski. Visitors Betsy and Emmy Lou from PPCNY, Menter Ambulance, Oswego Fire Department, and Jeff and Fenway from PPCNY generously helped make it a successful program so far.

Kids are able to stop by once a week to choose a book. Reading over the summer helps them keep up their literacy skills. The Oswego Bookmobile has expanded their route for Summer 2025 to reach families outside of Oswego. There were many new faces at the new locations.

“We live in Oswego but came to Fulton War Memorial to explore the new locations this summer,” said the Flett family. The addition of new locations helps the bookmobile meet our goal of spreading literacy to children in the summertime. With different STEAM activities offered each week, it allows children to express enjoyment in learning outside the classroom.

“It’s rewarding to see kids I've had in the classroom before, I'm glad to know that kids are interested in reading and literacy over the summer,” says Jenna Earl, Oswego Bookmobile Literacy Specialist.
