Get ready for a creative extravaganza at the Oswego County Fair!
Due to last year’s success, the fair will host another Bucket of Junk Contest, where participants will transform ordinary items into extraordinary sculptures. The challenge? Craft a three dimensional masterpiece using only the contents of a provided bucket, all inspired by the fair's theme, " Farm, Family, Freedom."
The buckets and the "junk" materials will be supplied, sparking your imagination to create art that can be admired from every angle. These unique sculptures will be proudly displayed in the Agriculture/Domestic Arts Building throughout the fair, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of our community. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to see junk turned into artistic treasures!
Bucket of Junk Contest is open to people of all ages. This is not a 4-H member or youth only contest. There are different classes for entry: youth individual, adult individual, more than 1 youth, family, and adult group business church or club. The contest is limited to 15 applicants (individual or team) and will be on the first come first serve basis. There will be a waiting list to replace any applicant that drops out of the contest before the fair, as well as any applicant that does not collect their bucket of supplies. The Bucket of Junk Contest is a great event for individuals to participate in the county fair. There will be a tangible prize for first place in each division in addition to the sculpture that earns People Choice Award.
There is no entry fee to participate. However, pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is June 4, 2026 or sooner if all buckets are spoken for. Contest rules and registration information can be found on the event page for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, https://thatscooperativeextension.org/events/2026/07/01/2026 bucket-of-junk-contest, or by calling 315-963-7286.
