The Oswego County Historical Society is proudly planning the 30th Annual "Not So Silent Auction" to be held on Friday, April 7th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at The American Foundry at 246 W. Seneca St. in Oswego. Tickets are $20 and will be available for purchase now and at the door the day of the event. A light buffet is included with admission and a cash bar will be available.

"The Silent Auction is the primary fund-raiser of the year for the Oswego County Historical Society. Every year local businesses, individuals and society members continue to generously contribute amazing items including gift certificates, antiques, artwork and collectibles of all kinds," said Mary Kay Stone, co-chair of the event. "There truly is something for everyone. It is an enjoyable time to meet with others that appreciate and value the history of our community."

Among some of the unique items for bid are items from the estate of Wally Workmaster, who passed away last year. "Mr. Workmaster was the site manager of Fort Ontario for many years and also past president of the Oswego County Historical Society. He was a strong advocate of Oswego County history and it is an honor that some of the items from his estate have been put in to the permanent collections of the historical society for future display and other items will be sold at the auction to support the museum he once managed," said Justin White, board president. "I know that Wally would be pleased to have certain items be part of the collections and others available for bid that will sustain the museum."

In addition to the silent auction portion of the evening, local auctioneer Ted Sivers will conduct a live auction that will feature some of the more unique items up for bid. The popular Chinese style auction that offers chances on themed gift baskets will again be available. Another special feature will be antique appraisal opportunity by Gerald Petro of Iroquois Auctions. Every ticket will include one free appraisal with additional appraisals $5.00 each.

"All funds raised by the event go to the support of the programs and services provided by the historical society, including the operation of the Richardson-Bates House Museum," said Jennifer Mays, co-chair of the committee."We invite everyone who wants to help support this local treasure to attend this important event."

The Oswego County Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich history of Oswego County. The society owns and maintains the Richardson-Bates House Museum. For more information about the auction call the museum at 315-343-1342.
