On Sunday 9/13/2015 the Oswego County SPCA/OCAWL held their annual dog and family fun festival at Breitbeck Park in Oswego.

There were games for the kids and the dogs, a bounce house, photo booth, BBQ, ice cream social and bake sale to benefit the organization. SUNY Oswego students including the SUNY Oswego Men’s hockey team assisted the Oswego County SPCA in running the event. While there, team captain Christopher Raguseo and 3 other teammates challenged four of the board members to a donut eating contest resulting in the hockey team members winning.

The board of the Oswego County SPCA is looking for a rematch at next year’s event. The cap to the event was the annual FUN dog show. While it was a fun day the turnout was not as large in years past which can be attributed to the weather being rainy and cold, and could impact the group’s ability to continue the spay and neutering program they have been providing to the community.

The Oswego County SPCA will be attending and have a table set up at the Lioness of Central Square Apple Festival on 9/26 and 9/27.

The organization’s next event is the Howliday Fundraiser on November 15, from Noon-5pm. This year the Howliday Fundraiser will be held at a new venue, The Foundry in Oswego and will feature a chicken dinner. Tickets for the chicken dinner can be purchased in advance by calling the Oswego County SPCA at 315-297-4900 and are $10. As always all proceed from all events go toward the vet care of the foster animals in our care and the spay/neuter program.
