With October rapidly approaching, the Oswego "D" Bus is gearing up for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and donations for Susan G. Koman.
For the last three years, The Oswego "D" Bus has been using its night life shuttles to help raise awareness of breast cancer. According to Lee Walker JR, owner of the company, this year has a more special meaning behind it as his wife recently had surgery for double breast cancer. "I use our social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) to let everyone know that if they get on the bus wearing the pink cancer ribbon, we will take $1 out of their $2 ride and then we match the $1 and donate it at the end of the month toward Susan G. Koman," said Lee Walker III, the son of Lee Walker JR.
According to Lee Walker III, in the past three years, The Oswego "D" Bus has raised close to two thousand dollars for breast cancer awareness. "This year, we'd like to raise $1,000 alone just from the night life before we match what has been raised," said Walker JR.
This year, instead of making the donation in the company name Oswego "D" Bus/Walker Enterprise, they'll be donating the funds in Lee Walker JR's wife's name, Kathy Walker.
