The planning committee of Oswego Garden Club recently met at the Oswego Tea Company to review and update plans for the coming year.

The Garden Club meets on the third Monday of the month from April through December. Many exciting and interesting activities are planned for 2025. Meetings are normally held at the McCrobie Building, and membership is open to anyone interested in gardening.

The Oswego Garden Club’s purpose is to promote interest in gardens, their design and management, to encourage use of flowers in the home, to undertake civic projects to beautify the community, and conservation of wild flowers and native plants. The Club hopes to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs.

Some of the planned activities include a plant sale May 17, field trips, and working in the community gardens of the Richardson Bates House, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum, and the Minetto Gazebo.  ”We often have guest speakers at our meetings,” said club member Deb Jaskula. “Or we will create arrangements with seasonal flowers and greens.”  The Club sponsors two scholarships every year for high school seniors graduating from Oswego, Fulton, Hannibal or Mexico who have an interest in pursuing further education in horticulture, environmental science, agriculture or landscape.
