The results are in! On April 26, 2014, MOTHER EARTH BABY hosted the 4th Annual Guinness World Record Great Cloth Diaper Change event at this year's HEALTHY BABY EXPO.

Mother Earth Baby participated in this event with 188 other host sites in 18 countries to break last year's World Record with 8,462 babies changed into a 100% reusable cloth diaper at one single point in time. What's more..Oswego brought in record numbers for this event being the 12th largest site (out of 188) in the world. Many thanks to our Guinness Witnesses Mayor Thomas W. Gillen, Legislator Amy M. Tresidder, Kimberly L. Kelly of Oswego County Opportunities, and Cathy Smith who validated our event here in Oswego. Way to go OSWEGO!!!

This year's event featured over 50 vendors, family fun and activities, raffles, door prizes, demonstrations and workshoops for all in attendance. The purpose of the GCDC is to raise awareness of the benefits of using cloth diapers. Families who use cloth diapers save money, experience less diaper rash and feel good about the impact using cloth has on the environment. The Great Cloth Diaper Change is an international initiative organized with the help of the nonprofit Real Diaper Association designed to show the world that cloth diapers are a real option for today's families.

Some of the great benefits of using cloth diapers include:

  • • Affordability – Using cloth may save up to $2500
  • • Environmentally – Disposable diapers take over 500 years to decompose
  • • Health – Less diaper rash and allergic reactions
  • • Fashionable – With many colors and prints to choose from...how can you resist?

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a successful one including Lake Ontario Conference Center, CNY Arts Center, Keech Photography, Just Push Play Productions, Zink Shirts, I Heart Oswego, Cre8 Solutions, Oswego Printing, our vendors, and last but not least our wonderful planning committee and volunteers.

Planning will soon begin for next year's event. For more information, please visit www.healthybabyexpo.com or contact Lisa Emmons of Mother Earth Baby at 315-216-4622 or e-mail lisa@mebabyshop.com.
