Each year the Oswego Players, Inc. award scholarships to deserving high school graduates in the area, and this year two scholarships were awarded to students moving on to higher education in the broad field of the arts. Awards went to Isabel Engelbrekt and Jeri Ann Barber.
The Lawrence E. Rose Scholarship in theater was given to Jeri Ann Barber, a 2015 graduate of APW High School. She will attend the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam studying music with an emphasis in business. Barber is a member of the National Honor Society, Drum Major with the marching band, an award winning athlete and was voted Most Musical by her class. With the American Music Abroad Red Tour she played clarinet on a tour of Austria, Germany and Czech Republic.
Winner of this year's Marion Green Scholarship is Isabel Engelbrekt of Pulaski. She has been named co-valedictorian of this year's graduating class at Pulaski Academy and Central School. She will be studying communications and English at Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. Also a member of the National Honor Society, she has played soccer and basketball and has been involved in student government.
Each student was awarded a $250 scholarship by the Oswego Players at their June 9 meeting by Jennifer Snow, Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee of the Players.
