Perhaps you havve seen her about town, engaging the support of local businesses or drumming up interest for one of the oldest, all-volunteer organizations in the country, est. 1938. Armed with smiles and full of energy, this 4' 11" little lady sure makes the rounds in the city of Oswego.
Whether she is seeking donations for a players fundraiser, looking for sponsors for a program or simply hanging posters for an upcoming show, you certainly will not forget you met her.
On Dec. 7, Tammy Wilkinson brings that enthusiasm to the stage in the player's latest production of "It's a Wonderful Life," directed by Troy Pepper.
"Tammy has a strong presence in life as well as on the stage, she brings that life force to every character and we are thrilled to have her on the stage again," Pepper said.
A local favorite, theater goers may remember her from her lead role as Billy Dawn in "Born Yesterday" or in a number of other player's productions over the years.
Wilkinson has lived in the area for the past eight years but said she has never felt as connected to the community as she does now.
"Working with all of the local business owners while advocating for an organization I truly loves has given me roots here and I am grateful to call it home," she said.
2012 was her first full year as producer and what a year it has been – with The Players throwing a huge renovation fundraiser at The American Foundry last August in addition to offering their full slate of shows for the year; Wilkinson has been busy tackling every aspect of the job description with vigor. She also maintains the content on the Players new website designed and hosted by Blackburn Graphics, as well as all social media. Rounding out the year in the coveted classic role as Mary Bailey is icing on the cake.
Performances will take place on the Frances Marion Brown theater stage in the Oswego Civic Arts Center, Fort Ontario Complex.
Production dates are 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8 and 14-15. A matinee will be performed at 2 p.m, Sunday, Dec. 16. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and $7/students. Reservations are recommended, and available at the Players' box office, 315-343-5138.
