The play "Death in the O.R." written by Dr. Michael S. Nupuf premiered Friday, Aug. 23, at The American Foundry to a sold out crowd. The play was presented as part of the Oswego Players' 75th Anniversary Celebration.

Inez Parker, the director of the play, confirmed there were 244 guests in attendance. The play was in such high demand that Parker announced a matinee showing at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 at The American Foundry. According to the Oswego Players' official Facebook page, tickets are selling quickly but Parker confirms there are still tickets left.
Before the play premiered, Tobie McIntosh, president of Oswego Players, and Liz McIntosh, vice president of Oswego Players, presented lifetime achievement awards to four individuals who have positively impacted and contributed to the wellness and success of Oswego Players. The recipients are Doris Shares, the oldest living Oswego Players member; Carol DeCapio, who first appeared with Oswego Players in the 1970 play "Star Spangled Girl"; Inez Parker, who has directed 37 productions for Oswego Players; and the late Larry Rose, who first appeared in the 1960 production "The Visit" while he was still attending high school.
After the awards, the play began and the crowd was drawn in. The lights set a chilling mood throughout suspenseful scenes in the play. The audience gasped, laughed and applauded the cast after each scene. Afterward, there was a 20-minute intermission where Steve Abbott and Dr. John Fountain, authors of the fictitious book "O.R." which the play was based on, were holding a book signing.
The play then resumed, ending with a chilling conclusion to the tale of the death of a nurse in Oswego Hospital.
If you are interested in purchasing tickets for Saturday's showing, call 315-342-0639. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds of the show will be placed in a fund for nurses at Oswego Hospital under the memory of Marlene Angelina.
