Parish Public Library would like to thank Assemblyman Will Barclay for securing $50,000 in state aid for the library.
With this funding, the library has resumed construction of a 2-story,1,600 sq ft wing that will add new programming, meeting, and collections spaces and nearly double the size of the library. The project also includes an accessibility lift to ensure that all patrons can access the facility. Construction has begun and is expected to be completed this summer.
Steve Stelmashuck, president of the library’s Board of Trustees, says, “We are grateful for Assemblyman Barclay’s ongoing support of Parish Public Library. He has shown his commitment to small libraries like ours throughout his tenure in the New York State Assembly, and our whole community appreciates that support.”
“Our public libraries are among the most important assets in every community. Parish Public Library provides unique programming, services and resources for the local community which adds to the quality of life for the area. Investing in these institutions is essential. I applaud the library’s efforts and commitment and look forward to seeing the project completed,” said Assemblyman Barclay.
Parish Public Library provides reading materials, information services, and youth and community programs for the residents of central and eastern Oswego County. The library celebrated its centennial in 2024. More information about programs and services can be found at parishpubliclibrary.org.
