The barbs have been flying fast and furious the past few weeks on both the Oswego Players stage and the off-site campaign headquarters. The deadline is approaching and the title of "President of the United States" is up for grabs.

Kyle Walton and Nick Pike are cast as the battling duo in the Oswego Players upcoming production of "The Best Man," written by the illustrious Gore Vidal and directed by Players own Bobby Fontana. Team Cantwell has been covered, so this article will focus on Nick Pike and Beverly Murtha (Team Russell).
Nick Pike is new to the Players, but not to the "boards." He has been seen on the SUNY Oswego's Waterman Stage in a number of college productions. Among them, "Much Ado about Nothing," "She Stoops to Conquer," and "War of the Worlds." In regional theater, he has tackled challenging roles in "Godspell," "West Side Story," and "The Producers." Pike has also appeared in a film, "The Impossible Choice." He holds a bachelor's in theater from Oswego and has worked with a vocal trainer to enhance his stage and musical presence.
Beverly Murtha should be very familiar to Oswego audiences. As Mrs. Russell, she plays a pivotal role in his campaign. Murtha has been a very busy lady since her debut as the lead in "The Lady Who Cried Fox" in 2009. Her on-stage persona has grown and matured through a variety of parts to the point that she can feel confident with any character she chooses to pursue. She also has a big heart as attested to by the many cats and kittens she has and does foster with the Oswego County Humane Society.
Other campaign members include Amy Price, Sara Sheffield, Jacob Luria, Norman Berlin, III, Kevina Schleicher, Spring Pigeon, Michael Moss, Shane Craig, Aaron Londraville and Tammy Wilkinson.
It all begins at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 and 19-20 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and $7/students. Reservations are recommended and can be made at the Players' Box Office 315-343-5138.
Support has been generously provided by Pathfinder Bank toward the Oswego Players' 75th season productions.
