Raymond F. Haynes, 71, of Oswego, died November 2, 2017 at Upstate Hospital, Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, New York, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Mary (Thayer) Haynes.
He was an US Air Force Veteran, having served from 1966-1969.
He retired from NEPCO.
Ray was a member of the Oswego Elks, American Legion and the Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a die hard Giants fan, his favorite saying was “Cut me, I bleed blue.” He enjoyed playing softball and later coached women’s softball.
He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed auto racing and was a past member of several super modified pit crews. His favorite hobby was building replica models.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra (Smith) Haynes; a daughter, Jennifer Haynes, of Orlando, Fl; his step-son, Matthew (Stephanie) Magrisi, of Oswego; two grandchildren, Jacob and Liliana; a mother-in-law Stancy Smith; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his lifelong friend Fletcher Petrie.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery with Rev. George Demass officiating.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at noon, Tuesday at the Oswego Town Fire Department.
