The annual Tree Tapping Ceremony will be performed at Red Schoolhouse Maple this year. Every spring, members of the New York State Maple Producers Association participate in the statewide event called Maple Weekend. Sugarhouses all over the state provide their communities with an entertaining way to explore their maple farm and show how real maple syrup is made. Maple Weekend is March 18th and 19th, as well as March 25th and 26th.

This year, Red Schoolhouse Maple was invited to kick off Maple Weekend and host the official Tree Tapping Ceremony. We will have Jennifer Blanchard, Paul A. Forestiere II, 2nd Ward Councilman/ Council President David Ritchie, 3rd Ward Councilman Don Patrick Jr., and 6th Ward Councilman Larry Macner who has been named City of Fulton's Veteran of the Year for 2017 as well as Dan LeClair, Oswego City Legislator attending the tree tapping. The actual tapping will be performed by Kevin Enders.

Many people are familiar with maple syrup, however, don’t know where it comes from. Making maple syrup for 7 years and counting, Red Schoolhouse Maple is proud to show off their maple farm and original, delicious maple syrup with their very own Maple Weekend celebration, A Touch of Maple.

Tours will be given to show the public their very own sugar bush, and the system they use to bring the syrup into the sugarhouse. Not only is the weekend to learn about the maple syrup process, but there will also be fun-filled activities for everyone.

There will be a the all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast taking place each morning from 8am to noon. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, coffee, and orange juice etc. Red Schoolhouse Maple will provide free samples of their pure maple syrup, along with store bought syrup for a taste test to see which is the tastier syrup.

There will also be two food contests over the two weekends. It is called the “Taste of Maple” cook off. Restaurants and bakeries from all over Oswego and Fulton, NY are invited to create a pure maple syrup or maple sugar product to enter in the contest, judged by the public.

There are also children’s contests, including a coloring contest, hidden pictures contest and children’s maple history quiz.

Red Schoolhouse Maple is located at 2437 County Rte 4 in Fulton, NY.
