Write a commentRita C. Lavaway, 59; of Fulton passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Syracuse after a short illness.
She was born in Watertown, NY to the late Robert and Jean (Yates) Gorgen. Rita had been a resident of Fulton for 30 years.
She was past employed with Nestles, Co., Fulton. Rita was a member of the Fulton Polish Home Ladies Auxiliary.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Jack Lavaway in 2017.
Rita is survived by her 4 children: Mandy Vieni of Fulton, John Scholoeder of NC, Nicole Halsey of Fulton, Corey Halsey of Fulton; 2 siblings: David Yates of Schuylerville, NY and Lyda Yates of MO, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Calling Hour will be held Friday, June 8th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton with Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 PM.
Inurnment will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Bath National Cemetery with military honors bestowed by the Corning American Legion Honor Guard
