Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Russell Sr. and Cora (Ketcham) Day.
He was a US Army Veteran having served during WWII Battle of the Bulge and the Korean Conflict, retiring in 1967.
Robert worked as a Foreman for Hammermill Paper retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed bowling and golf. His memberships were the American Legion Post 268, Oswego Elks 271 and the VFW Post 5885.
Surviving are a son, Robert Jr. “Jody" (Sherry) Day of Oswego; grandchildren, Michael Day and Lori Colvin; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Xavier Mihalek; a brother Donald Day of Oswego; two sisters Ruth Smith and Mary Murray; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 PM Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
Graveside Services will be held 10AM Saturday at Riverside Cemetery.
