A lifelong Sixth Ward City of Oswego resident, Ron Tesoriero, has announced his candidacy for the Sixth Ward seat on the Oswego City Common Council.

Tesoriero is a thirty eight year member of the Local 73 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and is currently the plumbing inspector for the City of Oswego, a job he will abdicate should he win the election later this year.  During his time with Local 73 he served as an apprentice instructor and a member of the finance committee.

"I have spent my entire life living in the City of Oswego and I now have the ability to give back to my community.  I've watched the City go through the good times and bad times and the momentum I have seen lately makes me want to be a part of what is happening now!” Tesoriero said.  "I've witnessed the daily efforts of the Code Enforcement Department as they have aggressively sought out the dilapidated and blighted homes in our neighborhoods to bring them into compliance and that is making a recognizable difference.  I will be the eyes and ears in the sixth ward and will focus on documenting these properties and reporting them and their violations to the Code Enforcement office".  Tesoriero continued by noting a hot button issue for him would be addressing the infrastructure as well as the water and sewer fees in the City of Oswego.  "I've spent my entire life working and understanding the City infrastructure and I believe I can use my skills to responsibly approach addressing the infrastructure issues in the City.  I also have a deep understanding of the sewer separation project and the issues at our wastewater facilities and believe I can offer considerable knowledge and experience when making decisions in those areas", Tesoriero continued.

Mr. Tesoriero has volunteered for various organizations in the Oswego community including Oswego Little League, Minor Hockey, Youth Soccer and is also an avid bicyclist.  He and his wife, the former Maureen Galvin, have raised their two children in Oswego who have since moved away and says, that fact, is what's driving him to get involved in City government.  "I want Oswego to be a better place for our children and I see the positive changes.  I want to be there for my constituents.  I do a lot of walking and biking around our City and can use that to check in with my constituents and make sure they know I am available and I listen.  I just want to help my neighbors and my City and that is my main objective when I become the representative for the Sixth Ward residents", Tesoriero concluded.

Ron Tesoriero lives with his wife Maureen in the Brittany Hills neighborhood.  Mr. Tesoriero intends to run on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines and pledges to canvass the sixth ward on foot meeting with residents starting this week.
