Ronald E. Rookey, 64, a resident of E. Schuyler Street in Oswego, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Watertown.
Ron was born in Oswego, the son of the late Robert and Margaret (LaMote) Rookey. He was a life resident.
Ron enjoyed working with cars in many ways, and was an avid Miami Dolphins football fan. He also was an accomplished drummer, and played with many local bands throughout the years.
He was a member of many local organizations, including the Oswego Lodge of Elks, the Oswego Hibernians, the IOOB in Fairdale, and the Oswego VFW.
He is survived by his girlfriend, and Love of His Life, Julie Treasure of Oswego; his four siblings, Robert (Trudy Homsley) of North Caroliina, George (Kim Roy) Rookey of Oswego, Daniel Rookey of Texas, Agnes (Edward) Vivlemore of Oswego, and Marjorie (Michael) Phillips of Texas; many, many friends; and several nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two nephews, Kyle Rookey, and Michael Vivlemore.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
Private burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
