Ruth M. Jennings, 95 of Oswego passed away Saturday evening May 18th, 2024, at St. Luke Health Services, Inc.

She was born in Syracuse NY and was the daughter of the late George and Gladys (Bullock) Lancette. She was one of eleven children.

Mrs. Jennings worked at several local factories including G.E. and Syroco until her retirement from Nestle’s.

Ruth was a devoted wife to her husband Bill for 65 years.  She was a loving mother to her four children and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends; there was always room for one more (or two or three) at the dinner table.   She enjoyed spending time at camp on Moon Lake where she could be out in nature and near the water.  She loved gardening, bird watching, auctions, antiques and crafting.  Her home was always filled with laughter and music, and she loved to dance.

Ruth also enjoyed traveling and has been all over the US.  She was an avid photographer; and yes, she was one of those people who put every picture into a photo album!  Ruth was an astute businessperson and ran a secondhand shop for several years.

She was a devout Christian who loved church, reading her bible and praying for others.  Along with her husband Bill she helped to plant The Church on the Lake in her Van Bibber Lake community in Indiana.  She loved, cared, readily forgave, was generous and accepted everyone as they were, “warts and all,” as she would say.  To know her was to love her.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam (Bob) Johnson of Oswego, two sons William (Barbara) Jennings of Indiana, Danny (Jacki) Jennings of Washington State, daughter-in-law Becky Jennings of Oswego, one sister Delores Regnault of New Jersey, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband William Jennings and her son Charles Jennings, and nine siblings.

There are no calling hours or services currently. Interment will be in Peck Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.

Contributions may be made in Mrs. Jenning’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarrior project.org which was very near and dear to her heart.

Arrangements are by the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
