Salvatore M. "Sam" Marturano, 65, a resident of Oswego passed away on January 17 at the Pontiac Care and Rehab Center.
Born in Lapari, Italy, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria (Lo Schiavo) Marturano and had attended Fitzhugh School until 8th grade and was a graduate of the Oswego Catholic High School, Class of 1967. He also attended Lemoyne College until 1971. He was employed with the Water Department for 2 years and was a Fireman for the Oswego Fire Department for 39 years. Sam loved to drive his Caddy and was known as the mayor of the Big M.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, the former, Dorothy Mumford, a son, Brian Murray, a daughter, Bernice Martinez, his, sister, Ria Romeo, three step children, Dorothy Splawn, Colleen Boyea, William Boyea, six grandchildren, one great grandson and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 from St.Joseph's Church.
Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9.
