Nominations due March 6
State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today announced that he has opened nominations for the New York State 50th District’s Woman of Distinction. This program aims to honor and recognize outstanding women whose contributions have enriched quality of life in their communities.
“Across Central New York, women are leading, serving, and strengthening our communities in countless ways—often without recognition,” said Sen. Ryan. “The Women of Distinction program is an opportunity to shine a light on those contributions and celebrate the women whose leadership, compassion, and commitment make our region a better place to live. I encourage residents of Onondaga and Oswego counties to nominate a deserving woman whose work inspires others and uplifts our community.”
Sen. Ryan’s office is accepting nomination letters until Friday, March 6. Nominees must live in District 50, which includes part of Onondaga and Oswego counties. Nomination letters should have a short biography that highlights the nominee’s contributions to the community. Nominations should be emailed to Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Communications Brooke Schneider at bschneid@nysenate.gov.
Inductees from each district will be honored during a ceremony in Albany on Tuesday, May 5.
The New York State Senate has been honoring New York women with the Women of Distinction program since 1998. Senator Ryan previously honored Nancy Kern Eaton as his 2025 Woman of Distinction. All past Women of Distinction honorees can be found on the New York State Senate’s website.
