Write a commentThe new SOLO; ShopOswegoLiveOswego, a group of small locally-owned and operated businesses, is sponsoring a “Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest” on Sunday Aug 23 from 10AM – 3PM as part of the Port City Co-Op Sunday Flea Market and Small Business Showcase.
The “Small Business Showcase” and “Sidewalk Clip Art Contest” kicks off SOLO’s “Super Sidewalk Sale” where participating businesses will offer savings of up to 75%. The SOLO – “Super Sidewalk Sale” will run from Aug. 21-31 with more than 20 local businesses participating.
Along with the “Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest” Aug 23 will showcase many of the local participating businesses who will be set up and “Open For Business” as part of the popular “OsweGO Sunday Port City Co-Op Flea Market”. The Flea Market has been going on all summer in the Pathfinder Bank’s W 2nd St., parking lot next door to the Port City Co-Op’s Store which features Antiques, Art and CraftWork is located at 137 W 2nd St., directly across the street from the Oswego Cinemas.
The “Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest” will feature 3 categories; “Children” (up to age 12), “Family”, and “Teen-Adult” (13 and above). Prizes totaling more than $300.00 in value will be given to the top 2 entries in each category. Preregistration is not required but suggested as space is limited. The “Sidewalk Chalk Art” will be created on W 2nd St beginning at W Bridge St and travel south to and around Civic Plaza. Chalk will be provided but contestants are encourages to bring their own supply. In the event of rain the event will be rescheduled for the following Sunday Aug. 30 from 10AM-3PM.
