Every season, the Fayetteville Manlius Women's Varsity Soccer Team comes together and sets down their collective goals for the year.
In addition to the obvious ones like playing well and maybe winning a few games, they also include some personal goals that help build team spirit. These goals are written by the team independent of their coaches and are submitted at the beginning of the school year. When their coach opened them, he found to his surprise that the team really wanted to do yoga with goats. So, he and the soccer moms got to work looking for someone who might be able to fulfill their wish.
Luckily for the alpaca at Seven Acres Alpaca Farm, no goat yoga was to be found. So as a surprise, their coaches and supporters brought the team to spend a couple hours practicing their yoga moves among the welcoming herd at Seven Acres Alpaca Farm.
Early Sunday morning as the bus came rolling down Dinglehole Road, you could hear the screams of laughter when the bus pulled up to the entrance of the farm and the team was greeted by their coaches and the folks at Seven Acres Alpaca Farm.
And for the next couple of hours, all 21 players mingled among the herd and were greeted by none other than Rosie, the “official” alpaca meeter and greeter at the farm. Rosie is known for her ability to make folks laugh out loud as she nuzzles up and wants to give everybody a kiss. And then the two baby cria boys, Winston, and Noah had to run among the team as they took their positions in the pasture with their yoga instructor Isabella for some stretching.
As the group left to load their bus for the return home, the smiles were a plenty and according to one of the players…” this was better than goats, this was amazing.”
Many thanks to the coaches, the parents, and of course the fantastic bus driver for a great day.
