Some "Sweet Sixteen" Cats to Appear at PetSmart Adoption Day

On Sunday, February 19th, the Oswego County Humane Society will have some of the Boylston “Sweet Sixteen” cats for adoption at the PetSmart store at Lowe’s Plaza in Oswego as part of PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Weekend. They will be available for adoption from 11 to 3 on Sunday.

These sixteen cats, ranging in age from 5 months to 12 years, were recently rescued from a home in the Town of Boylston with a collapsed roof. The Oswego County Humane Society, collaborating with the United Friends of Homeless Animals in Richland, launched a rescue effort that spanned a week and blizzard conditions to lure or trap the animals and bring them to their respective shelters.

Dubbed the Boylston “Sweet Sixteen,” the cats cover the gamut in colors, fur length, and personality. Prospective owners will have the opportunity to choose and pick up their new pet after references have been checked. Adopters who are interested in going home the same day with a pet should bring veterinary references and, if renting a home, bring written consent from the landlord. They should also bring a sturdy cat carrier. The adoption fee for cats under a year is $100 and $50 for older cats. Adoption fees cover a portion of veterinary and other expenses incurred to ensure the health of all our animals. All adult cats have been spayed or neutered, have current shots and have been checked for ear mites and parasites. Our kitten group has been scheduled for spay or neuter and will be available soon.

Pictures and more information can be located at the Humane Society’s web site at www.oswegohumane.org. For more information, call the Oswego County Humane Society at 315-207-1070.
