The Art Association of Oswego will be offering two ceramics classes this spring. Both classes will be taught in the pottery studio at the Oswego Civic Arts Center.
Introduction to the Pottery Wheel
This class is an introduction to the Potter's Wheel. Students will learn various skills necessary to throw utilitarian wear on the wheel and create functional pieces. Students will learn various techniques such as (but not limited to) wedging, centering, compression methods, lifting methods, slab handle methods, trimming techniques and final clean-up of the pieces created.
The class will be offered on Mondays 9am-Noon from April 13 to May 4. Class size is limited to 3 participants.
Hand-building Ceramic Class
This class is for students who are interested in ceramics and will focus on skills to build clay pieces by hand. Students will explore basic techniques such as (but not limited to) coil building, pinch pots, slab building, slump mold pieces, and building solid then hollowing out. Students will have a choice of what they will want to create and will not be limited to basic forms.
This class will be offered Wednesdays 9am-Noon from April 15 to May 6. This class will be limited to 8 participants.

The Oswego Civic Arts Center is located in the red building at the northernmost end of East 4th Street, directly across from Fort Ontario.
