“The Magic of Music,” this year’s theme for National Assisted Living Week celebrations never sounded so good to the residents at St. Francis Commons in Oswego.

A performance by The Oswego County New Horizons Band and Chorus was one of the featured events reflecting the integral role that music plays in assisted living residences every day. The transformational effect of music continues as individual’s age and can provide joy, comfort and in some cases, memories long ago experienced.

“As Oswego County’s first and only licensed Assisted Living Program residence, we here at St. Francis Commons are excited to be celebrating our very first National Assisted Living Week,” Peg LiVoti, director of activities. “We have a number of performances and special events for our residents, reflecting both ‘magic’ and ‘music’ including appearances by Elvis (impersonator Tom Gilbo), a performance by the Bishop’s Commons 'Ding-A-Ling' Bell Choir, 'Jeff the Magician,' and local favorite Phil Markert. It promises to be a special week for everyone.”
