St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence in Oswego is the site for an upcoming workshop by the Alzheimer’s Association entitled, “Understanding and Responding to Dementia-related Behaviors” on Tuesday, July 19th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

St. Francis Commons is located at 12 Burkle Street in the City of Oswego, on the St. Luke healthcare campus. This educational workshop is free of charge and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage.

Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

To register for the “Understanding and Responding to Dementia-related Behaviors” workshop, please call the Alzheimer’s Association at (315) 472-4201 extension 100, or St. Francis Commons at (315) 326-0870.

Upcoming programs in the series provided by the Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York and hosted at St. Francis Commons in Oswego include; “Legal and Financial Planning” on August 16th; and “Dementia Conversations” on September 14th. All programs in the series are free of charge and open to the public.
