Veteran driver Steve Duphily opened a new era for Oswego Speedway, earning the first ever victory in the track’s all new 350 Supermodified division on Sunday afternoon.

Duphily’s No. 11 started pole alongside Mike Scott, who was piloting the Burke Motorsports No. 10. Steve wasted little time going to the point at the drop of the green.

The owner of the No. 10 car, John Burke, also went by Scott to come away with the runner up spot on lap 1.

For 25-laps, Burke, Scott and fellow New England invader Eddie Witkum attempted to reel in Duphily, but it appeared Burke’s No. 01 was the only car able to stick right with the No. 11.

Duphily, who is the grandson of Vic Miller, longtime crew chief for Supermodified driver Chris Perley, drove a perfect race. He dominated for 25-laps and picked up his first career Oswego checkered flag.

“My grandfather and crew and everyone on this team work so hard and it shows,” Duphily said from victory lane. “I tried to give it my best every lap, I knew John (Burke) was close to me, so I hope we put on a good show. I like Oswego and look forward to running as much as I can here.”

Finishing behind Duphily in the running order were Burke, Scott, Witkum, Anthony Losurdo, Barry Kingsley, and Vern LaFave. Losurdo was the D&S Landscaping Hard Charger.

Oswego Speedway is off on Saturday, June 1, but reopens with another three division show on Saturday, June 8 featuring the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and Sunoco New York Super Stock Series. The 350 Supers return on June 15.
